About KoreaMelon
NEW WRITERS FOR KOREAMELON!
Please welcome Connie Kim! She will be our writer for Korean Pop-Culture.
Thank you for visiting KoreaMelon! My name is Kwang Lee, your host. KoreaMelon is a blog about Asia and Korea, the country that brought you Ginseng, Taekwondo, Soju, K-Dramas, Kimchi… and of course, Korean Melons. We hope you’ll find interesting things here about everything Asian! In this blog, various authors talk about things like current events, entertainment, social issues, language, technology, news, products, media, and anything and everything that relates to Korea and Asia, and being Korean or Asian-American.
I’ll post items that are of interest and importance to me and the Korean-American community, but I’m not going to claim to be an expert on Korean culture. So I am depending on you - the readers - to submit your comments to help support this online community.
I was born in Seoul but raised in the U.S.A. from the age of two. Since then, I visited Korea about eight times throughout my life. People always seem to compliment me on how well I speak the language considering I was raised in America. That’s thanks to my very stark grandmother who insisted I spoke Korean in the house all the time. My grandma visited us in the U.S. quite often when I was young and stayed sometimes for months at a time. She is still alive and well at the age of 95 and lives in the countryside of Yoju, Korea. I’ll always thank and adore her for instilling in me the importance of keeping my Korean root and heritage, which is what inspired me to start KoreaMelon and why I am dedicating this blog to my grandmother.
We hope you enjoy your visit here. Please bookmark and visit us again soon! If you see something you like, tell your friends! Thanks again for visiting, and we look forward to your emails and comments!
Sincerely,
Kwang Lee
