South Korea Survivor's Kit
In just a few days, one of my buddies will embark on an English teaching adventure in Pusan, Korea. Talking with him over dinner last night, I could tell he’s pumped up and a little nervous at the same time. Well, now he has nothing to worry about! Another friend had put together a “South Korea Survivor’s Kit” made from a collection of essential items he bought from his local H-Mart store, a large Korean owned nationwide supermarket chain. This was his going-away gift and a very thoughtful one at that! The contents of the package was a set of dining utensils (included a fork, knife, spoon, and chopsticks!), facemask, chewing gum (Acacia), shower caps, miniature playing cards(?), and baby crackers. The miniature playing cards were actually Hwatoe, a traditional card game that most Koreans enjoy playing. My friends can be so silly! Okay, I admit I don’t get some of the humor in this, but here’s how the list of contents reads:
1x Dining Set - Use if South Korean chopsticks over complicated to operate in safe fashion.
1x Face Mask - If pollution, second-hand smoke, or own breath is hazardous install on face.
1x Packet of Chewing Gum - Keep mouth emissions minty and fresh clean.
2x Showerer Caps - Keep your hair and the hair of one other dry from wetness. Caution: Flammable.
2x Miniature Playing Cards Set - Parlays boredom.
2x Baby Crackers - If local fare gives discomfort eat with mouth to save stomach acid fluxation.
Any tips you can share with my buddy for a pleasant stay in Pusan? Please post your comments here!

Since I’ve only live in Seoul and visited Gwangju, I can’t really comment on what Busan would be like ~_~;; Interesting survival kit, though!

The humor is the poor English (and the complete silliness of the contents). I’ve seen so many packages from Asia that have the worst English. It inspired me I guess.
