Adopt a Pet Boy: Popular Trend in South Korea
It seems Japan finally has a competitor for wierd stuff. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, this proves that you can sell just about anything today. If you’re a girl in South Korea, you can now adopt a Pet Boy whenever you want. He can take you to the movies and watch what you want to see, go shopping with you for as long as you want, and even take you out to a fancy restaurant on a nice romantic dinner. Of course, though, it’ll be on your wallet.
It’s becoming a popular trend in South Korea as ads for Pet Boys are popping up all over the place. The young college kids who work as Pet Boys say the job is stress free and financially rewarding, all while providing a valuable service for lonely career women who need some pampering.
This business concept actually came from a popular Japanese anime story a few years ago. In the story, a wealthy business woman one day decides to take home a homeless 20-something-year-old to live with her as her pet.
There were thousands of applicants when a local TV show in Korea announced Pet Boy job openings early this year. Agencies in Korea offering Pet Boy services have also begun to show up on the internet, and the trend is expected to continue throughout Asia. What has this world come to? But, well, it does sound like a fun job. Where do I sign up?!
